6/3/10- After Big Spring City Council recently gave the go ahead for a new Family Aquatic Center to be constructed at Comanche Trail Park, it didn't take long for demolition crews to begin breaking up the 80 year old city pool and hauling away the debris. If all goes as planned, the new aquatic center will be ready to open early next summer. (Photo KBST News)

5/20/10- A Marine Veteran of the Korean War just happened to be driving through Big Spring, just happened to glance over at the V.A. grounds, and just happened to stop and take a closer look at the monument there. 5/20/10- The Howard / Glasscock Relay for Life Committee announced this week a “Relay Re-do” to make up for the May 14th event that was canceled due to stormy weather. June 19th is the date and Dorothy Garrett Coliseum is the place for the local American Cancer Society event.

E.D.C. AND COLLEGE HONORED

4/28/10- The Big Spring Economic Development Corporation and Howard College have received a huge award for their teamwork in the community. They are recognized with the Workforce Excellence Award in the category of cities with a population of 15,000 to 40,000 by the Texas Economic Development Council. The award recognizes efforts of the two entities in 2009 as they teamed together on adult and youth employment training issues and related community needs. The partnership continues.
