3/10/10- The replica of The Statue of Liberty that has stood in front of the Big Spring Municipal Auditorium for many years was blown off it's stone base as 50 mph winds began to gust Wednesday morning. Actually, it wouldn't have taken much of a push say city officials since the supporting metal rods holding Lady Liberty up had rusted through. City workers hauled the fallen statue away to storage while officials come up with a plan to restore her. The metal statue sustained minor damage from the fall. Local Boys Scouts erected the monument several decades ago. (Photo KBST News)
