| 10/20/07- Just a handfull of volunteers showed up for Keep Big Spring Beautiful's "Love Our Lake Day" Saturday at Comanche Trail Park Lake, but they got a lot of clean-up work done in just a few hours. Shown here are volunteers signing up Saturday morning. And here's a picture of KBST's Mark Sheedy with his boat and "garbage barge" he used to get trash out of the bushes from the "water side" of the lake's shore. The little barge worked well as a deposit place for the trash he pulled in while afloat. The floating trash collector (seen floating just behind his boat before Mark heads out) was a combination of his design, with material contributions from businesses like Dons's Tire and the Paint And Safety Store. The "barge" was simple, sturdy, and effective. (Photos Mike Henry) |
